Compassionate Warriors, Inc is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization created in honor of my son Trevor Gray. We are all about "Compassion" and here to make a difference in other peoples lives. Proceeds raised are used to help our community as a whole. We have services for families affected by homicide, our youth, the homeless, the elderly, kids in foster care, and our community in general. During times of crisis members of our community need to know they are not alone. We are here for emotional support, to offer our array of services, and help ease the financial burden.
Tina's Story
My name is Tina Gray and I am a mother to six. I have four biological children and two adopted from the State of Florida while they were placed with me in therapeutic foster care. All of my children have brought great joy to my life and given me even more joy with the additions of eight grandchildren. As a mother, I never thought I would have to lay one of my children to rest. Trevor was my baby. Only 20 years old.
On January 2, 2019 my son was shot while sitting his truck at a red light. Retaliation for a fight his passenger got into at the gas station he had stopped for fuel just minutes prior. Although Trevor was not involved in the altercation, he was the one to lose his life that night. Trevor was shot multiple times and was transported to the hospital where he died 2 1/2 hours later. I wasn't notified until the following morning when homicide detectives knocked on my door.
As you can imagine, that was the worst day of my life! Losing a child is something no parent should have to go through. My baby was gone and there was nothing I could do to change that. They are correct when saying the greatest loss is that of a child! I will forever miss my son and grieve this loss. A part of me will always be missing, until we meet again.
While we are powerless to change the facts of a situation such as this, we are not powerless in what we can do for another parent or family facing the same tragedy. My son was a very compassionate person and would help anyone in need. Compassionate Warriors was created in his honor because I know he would want something positive to come from his death. Being told a loved one is gone and the grief that follows is one of the worse things we will all face in our lifetime. Whether it is emotional support, help in finding victim services, planning services or funding to help ease the expense, we here to do our part in helping our community. We are here to assist during times of crisis and tragedy.
